The Family Support Partner is responsible for providing peer support to parents and caregivers of children who have special emotional, behavioral and/or mental health needs. A Family Support Partner is a family member/individual who has had the experience of raising a child with a complex emotional/behavioral and mental health challenge, being the caretaker and the main decision maker of that child, and having had to negotiate services and supports for that child.  This may include but not be limited to a birth parent, stepparent, adoptive parent, foster parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle or adult sibling of a child with complex emotional/behavioral and mental health challenges.  Consideration will be given to those individuals whose experience as caregivers of children with complex emotional, behavioral and mental health challenges has been within the past 10 years.
