Family Support Partner  and Parent Networking Support Group Facilitator

Diane Varga

Diane worked for 14 years in Customer Service as a customer service representative, customer service manager, and a customer service trainer in New York, New Jersey, and Chicago. Diane decided, after her time in Chicago, that her passion laid elsewhere. In 1995, she opened a small home based daycare. Diane’s introduction to the Children’s System of Care began in 2012. She remembers an interaction she had with two FSO representatives. Not only was she grateful for their guidance and help during a very trying time, but she also felt like she had discovered a job she would like to pursue once she was able to go back to work. Diane has been married for 24 years, and is the proud parent of four adopted children. Three of her children had IEPs. Diane was very involved with special education and with special education parents’ advisory groups in each school. Diane’s hope is that, through Family Partners, she will have a chance to give back, and an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the families she works with. Just as so many people involved in the Children’s System of Care have done for her in the past.

"My own journey with CSOC began back in 2007 as a new resident of Sussex County NJ and as the parent of three biological children and one step child all with significant mental health challenges, three with co-occurring substance use challenges, two with heroin addiction, all now in long term recovery and all of us long term survivors of domestic violence. I am a graduated kinship caregiver having raised my granddaughter from birth until she was successfully reunified with her mother in 2018, and co parent to two additional teens with complex trauma related mental health challenges. For those who lost count that’s 7 very special children that I wouldn’t trade for the world. My professional career with CSOC began in 2010. I have seen the positive progression of service options and availability of programming for families including the transition from Value Options to PerformCare and the integration of ID/DD youth and youth with substance use challenges. I personally experienced being served as a family and am now honored to serve on a professional level with community providers within and outside of New Jerseys Children’s System of Care. On behalf of my family who has made astounding accomplishments and speaking for the thousands of families who have been served through our FSO during my tenure I would like to thank NJCSOC and all of the community providers who wrap us with services to make our successes possible."

Michael Jaffoni

Mike is a graduate of Ramapo College with a degree in Business Administration. He approximately spent 10 years in the field of marketing and sales. However, as a result of personal exposure to struggling families, Mike felt led to help children that would otherwise fall through the cracks of society’s over stretched demands for assistance. As Mike made a transition to the field of social services he had a personal epiphany to put his heart first followed by a deep passion to meet the needs of hurting and disenfranchised families. As a result, Mike was presented with the opportunity to run a group home for autistic and multiple disabled children. That experienced prepared him for his present position where he offers support, education and advocacy services to families involved in the Children System of Care in the State of New Jersey. Mike takes his job very seriously and puts forth a concerted effort every day to be a beacon of hope to each child and family assigned to his case load. As indicated, Mike is highly committed to his job; however, he makes time to spend quality time with his wife of 21 years and his three children. In any limited spare time that Mike finds, He enjoys watching and participating in sports. He is a true baseball enthusiast, and a loyal fan of the New York, Yankees. He is also a talented musician and has played in numerous bands over the years. He enjoys life to the fullest, and if you were to meet him you would obviously agree with this assertion. Family Partners is all the better for Mike’s daily presence and his continued service.

Luz Quintero

Luz was born and raised in South America in the beautiful country of Colombia. She came to the United States 35 years ago. In her country she studied accounting, but that left her feeling empty with a lack of true purpose. Her heart was not with numbers, but a true desire to help people and educate children. In 2012 Luz received her certification as Specialist in Early Childhood Development.  She had the opportunity of working with pre-school children up to three years of age. She did this for eight years. Luz has a 21 years old daughter with various challenges which led her to seek services at the Family Support Organization. After several months of receiving family support, Luz was offered employment at Family Partners in January 2017. Over the past 3 years, Luz has found great joy and personal satisfaction in assisting others that are going through difficult situations. Presently, Luz’s daughter is attending college and she is the Assistant’s Youth Coach of Family Partners Youth Partnership. Luz is extremely grateful to Family Partners for what the agency has done to help her daughter feel empowered and confident to face life’s never ending challenges.
